about
Object Flux is an art and design studio that explores the balance of all-natural materials. Founded by the metalsmith, stonecutter, and woodworker Sam Laddin, the studio is recognized for pioneering the gemstone in wood technique.
Sam’s work is shaped by her childhood instincts of making things with her hands, running through the woods, and playing among the roots and rocks.
Since 2008, Sam has created jewelry for collectors, companies, galleries, and museums nationally and internationally. She holds a BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing Design from Syracuse University and an MFA in Jewelry and Gemstones from The University of Trier in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, an epicenter of global gemstone craftsmanship.
Based in the NY metro area, the studio’s aim is to honor the integrity of the material while using old-world techniques that are inherently sustainable. Each piece is made as a one-of-a-kind for everyday use, designed to center a moment of stillness and connection. Talisman-like in nature, the work is best experienced through touch, presence, and use.
